Reunion Class Gift - in honour of your milestone anniversary

Over the past few years, as alumni celebrate their milestone anniversary reunions, they have been united not only by the exciting opportunity to reconnect with each other and the College, but also by a strong sense of common purpose to 'give back’ - by supporting a deserving refugee scholar to follow in their footsteps.

Reunion 2019 Class Gifts help fund refugee scholarships through The UWC Refugee Initiative, changing the life-path of a young person who has grown up in a conflict zone, by opening the doors to a UWC education where they meet and study with students from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures, and can go on to make real change in their communities and the world.

In recent years, the reunion giving programme has enabled alumni to came together with others in our UWCSEA community to support Mahmoud, a Palestinian refugee scholar from Lebanon. He reflects on his experience at UWC Mostar, as he approaches graduation:

"I have learnt that community service makes a difference. I have learnt that there is always someone who cares about you. I have learnt to never give up no matter what.

I have been an active member in my UWC community. I raised awareness about several issues that refugees suffer from. Hence, I acquired more interest in helping my people, being a refugee myself, once I get back. There are tons of problems that need a lot of cooperation and sense of humanity to be solved. And I will be striving towards finding, or contributing to finding, all possible solutions, with the help of the international community.

At this moment, I have started thinking about graduation and leaving this place - something that puts mixed feeling into my heart. I just want say that I wish that I could pay back in the same way, and be able to give someone else an opportunity like this. Thank you."

Refugee communities need more future leaders with strong abilities, social consciousness and a drive for peace and reconciliation, like Mahmoud. Your Milestone Anniversary gifts will ensure we can welcome another young refugee change maker again next year. Find out more.

You can make your Reunion Class Gift on the official Registration form. Alternatively, you can also make your Class Gift via the giving page.
