Founder and CEO of environmental and industrial hygiene consulting firm, Aero-Environmental Consulting
Volunteer husbandry diver, Monterey Bay Aquarium

Biologist, environmental conservationist and entrepreneur, Jorge worked in the field of fisheries and aquaculture before becoming a winemaker and then an environmental consultant.

Jorge came to UWCSEA as a National Committee Scholar from Mexico and went on to study Biology and Chemistry at the University of Texas at El Paso and achieve a Master’s degree in Fisheries Science from Texas A&M. After working as Hatchery Manager in the fisheries industry and then becoming an Assistant Winemaker in the California wine industry, Jorge started his own company in 2002, performing environmental assessments and industrial hygiene investigations on commercial, residential and industrial properties. The assessments include site evaluations for hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead, biohazards like mold and bacteria, indoor air quality, chemical and noise exposure, and possible petroleum hydrocarbon releases into the environment by commercial properties.

Once a week for more than 16 years, Jorge has also donned a wetsuit and dived into the Monterey Bay Kelp Forest, Open Seas, and Habitat Exhibits at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. He performs interactive, narrated feeding shows and provides information and education about exhibits to the visiting public. A long-time volunteer, he sees it as his way to make a personal contribution to the conservation of the oceans by educating and inspiring conservation in others.
