The UWCSEA Foundation
Heinrich Jessen has lived in Singapore for most of his life and is a UWCSEA alumnus. He is married and has two sons, one of whom is currently enrolled in UWCSEA.
After working in a trading company in Los Angeles and WWF in Milan, Italy, he graduated with a B.Sc. in environmental studies from George Washington University and earned a Master’s in industrial environmental management from Yale University. In between, he worked as a tropical biologist in Papua New Guinea.
Heinrich joined the family business, Jebsen & Jessen (SEA), as Director of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) in 1995. He went on to take on various management roles in several of the Group’s member companies, working across the region. In 2001, he completed an executive management programme at INSEAD.
In 2004, Heinrich assumed the regional management responsibility of the material handling joint-venture MHE-Demag. He concurrently took over the role as Chairman of Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) following the retirement of his father. He assumed operational responsibility for Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) in June 2010, as Chairman of its three-member executive board.
