I am currently studying an MBA at Columbia Business School and I'm part of PANGEA, a student-led initiative that undertakes pro-bono consulting projects with NGO's and foundations both in NY and abroad (http://www.pangeaadvisors.org/).
I'm currently working on a project that aims to provide young Iraqis with online training in modern business practices. From November 2011 to February 2012, Columbia's MBA students will act as mentors to advise potential entrepreneurs in how to start a successful business. We will also assist in looking for funding opportunities.
If you're interested, email your resume along with a cover letter explaining your interest in entrepreneurship to John Anderson janderson13@gsb.columbia.edu (citing that you heard about the project from me or through a UWC student, so that I know).
Please circulate this with any contacts you may have in Iraq.
Also, if you work for an NGO and would like Columbia Business School students to assist your organization, please check our website and email contact@pangeaadvisors.org.
Pangea Advisors have worked with more than 60 organizations, including Acumen Fund, Grameen Foundation, and Columbia's Earth Institute. Past projects include a marketing plan for a bio-agriculture firm in India, a new organizational structure for an AIDS research center in Brazil, and a business plan for a microfinance institution in Mexico.
