The Human Rights Watch New York Film Festival is taking place June 16th-June 30th at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center.  I am writing to ask you to please consider volunteering at the Film Festival Benefit Thursday, June 16th, at the Walter Reade Theater at
Lincoln Center.

This event kicks-off the International Film Festival with a screening of Larysa Kondracki’s The Whistleblower.  A discussion including film subjects Kathryn Bolkovac and Madeleine Rees will follow the screening.  A reception will take place shortly after at the Kaplan Penthouse.   On the evening of the Benefit, we need folks to work as greeters, guides, and aisle guards, and to check in guests as they arrive at the Theater.

Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to staff a few important screenings, but also welcome volunteers to staff the weeknights and weekend days/nights.  These screenings include: Opening Night (Granito) Friday June 17th, Centerpiece Night (Sing Your Song) Saturday June 25th, The Price of Sex Screening, Sunday, June 26th, and Closing Night (Life, Above All) Thursday, June 30th. Volunteers will be assisting in event setup and breakdown, staffing tables, greeting guests, and circulating the event to gain contact information.

INTERESTED?
Please contact Donna Yang at dev_in19@hrw.org with your contact information (namely, a cell phone number and e-mail address you prefer to be reached at).  But before you hit "Send,” please read on for all relevant information regarding the program, orientation, schedule, attire and directions—just in case you should have any questions.  Additionally, we ask that all volunteers meet a minimum age requirement of 18 yrs old.  Please note that although this is an unpaid opportunity and volunteers are not guaranteed a chance to view the films, it is still a worthwhile and valuable experience!

ORIENTATION
We will be holding a brief orientation meeting at the HRW Office, located at 350 Fifth Avenue in the Empire State Building 34th Floor, the week prior to the Benefit where volunteers will receive job descriptions and schedules.  More information will follow once a date is scheduled for the orientation.
